Broadband, low-noise photodiode circuits
Abstract
A description is given of a circuit design which makes it possible to compensate undesirable capacitances present in a conventional photodiode circuit. It is shown that the noise characteristics of the photodiode circuit are significantly improved by this approach. Attention is also given to an enhancement of the bandwidth with the aid of feedback and questions related to an overcompensation of diode capacity. The characteristics of photodiodes are compared with those of photomultiplier tubes.
