Modulation transfer function of quadrilinear C.C.D. imager
Abstract
The transfer inefficiency MTF is one of the three main components of MTF for an imager using CCDs as readout registers. This transfer inefficiency MTF refers to inherent transfer losses during readout leading to a type of signal degradation which may be particularly severe for very long linear arrays. This paper examines the effect of transfer inefficiency of linear CCD imagers on the MTF of linear CCD imagers with particular reference to the quadrilinear imager. It is shown that the transfer inefficiency MTF of the quadrilinear CCD imager is improved over that of imagers with one and two CCDs.
