How to determine hydrodynamical forces of interaction between weak shocks and an elastic medium
Abstract
Determination of transfer functions is discussed in reference to diffraction on a spherical body whose motion is described by equations of linear elasticity theory. A uniform isotropic hollow elastic sphere immersed in a semibounded space filled with an ideal inviscid compressible fluid is considered. A weak shock wave (planar or spherical) impinges on the sphere. A general integral in the form of a sum of converging and diverging waves is exhibited for solving the overall problem of diffraction of a weak shock on a hollow elastic sphere.
