Gas slip along a solid surface under the action of temperature drop
Abstract
The Onsager principle of irreversible thermodynamics is applied to the problem of gas slip flow in the slit formed by two parallel plates which are set in relative motion to each other. The effect of a temperature gradient along the slit is studied and the problem is reduced to calculating the isothermal heat flux at constant temperature. A correction must be made to the Maxwell distribution function to take account of nonzero heat flux.
