Longitudinal Structure of the Geminid Stream
Abstract
Long-term observations of the Geminid meteor shower suggest that the meteor density along the Geminid orbit is not homogeneous. For a detailed study of the longitudinal structure a good knowledge of the orbital period is necessary. Assuming the simplest variation for the longitudinal structure an orbital period near P = 1.72 year was established from radio observations for 1958-1974. At least three extremely dense parts in the Geminid stream were found.
