The problem of developing a complex of modern economical radio telescopes
Abstract
Criteria for comparison and prediction of complex technical and economic characteristics of large-scale antenna systems of parabolic-mirror and other types of various sizes used in radio astronomy and long-range space communication are examined. Experience in development and optimization of some Soviet high-efficiency parabolic antennas, including the first example of the 64-m TNA-1500 radio telescope, is generalized. New directions for improvements in the complex characteristics of similar antennas are discussed. It is shown how the data and experience acquired can be used for developing new radio telescopes, in particular, the 128-m TNA-8000 radio telescope.
