On the system 3U 0352+30 - X Persei.
Abstract
The X-ray source 3U 0352 plus 30 is studied, assuming that its optical counterpart is the irregular star X Persei. The X-ray source would then be one of the least luminous of the Uhuru Catalog. An orbital period of 22 h for the system 3 U 0352 plus 30 - X Persei is assumed, as deduced from the X-ray data. It is proposed that the companion of X Persei is an accreting white dwarf. The X-rays are produced in an adiabatic shock formed around the star. Nuclear energy is released in a noncontinuous way and can explain the optical variability observed in X Persei.
