Flares observed by the NRL-ATM spectrograph and spectroheliograph during the SKYLAB missions
Abstract
Eight interesting flares were observed with the S082A spectroheliograph (171 to 630 A) and the S082B ultraviolet spectrograph (970 to 1970 A) during the Skylab missions. Time-lapse sequences of spectroheliograms are shown to illustrate the characteristics of these flares in various emission wavelengths. Time-lapse sequences of XUV spectra are used to illustrate characteristics of the flare plasma during these events. The observations are correlated with Solrad X-ray data and with H-alpha images which show where S082B was pointed.
