Laser deflectors for holographic memories being developed
Abstract
It was found that the direction of the laser beam bend changed precisely to the extent of changing the grid constant by ultrasonic frequency. This produced a laser deflector having a resolution capability of 3,000 points. The intensity of the bent laser beam could be modulated as a fixed frequency but with changing ultrasonic amplitude. An acoustic optical Q-switch for YAG lasers is also considered, along with a process of developing a two dimensional, coherent light modulator.
