Range and range rate measurement equipment for ETS-I
Abstract
The paper describes the operation and performance of the range and range rate (RARR) measurement equipment for the ETS-1 satellite. The system employs a phase modulation S-band transponder of 1.7 GHz downlink and 2.1 GHz uplink for determining satellite position. Measured group delay variations are 30.7 nsec in a single station measurement and 92.2 nsec, 84.4 nsec and 89.7 nsec for the first, second, and third narrowband channel amplifiers, respectively, used in trilateral measurement.
