Optical and acoustical micro-electronics - Similarities and differences
Abstract
Part I of the paper deals with the similarities and characteristic differences between the fields of optical and acoustical micro-electronics, in relation to fabrication technology, materials, surface wave properties, methods of theoretical analysis, and applications of surface wave devices. Part II examines guiding structures and surface wave devices in greater detail. Several types of waveguide structures are treated, and thin film devices, dimple lenses, surface wave and waveguide couplers and channel doping filters are considered. Examples of technology transfer from one field to the other are presented.
