A sonic anemothermometer for measuring vertical flux of sensible heat in the atmospheric boundary layer
Abstract
Proceeding from the known heat flux equation which describes the relationship between the turbulent, vertical flux of sensible heat in the atmospheric boundary layer and the fluctuation components of meteorological parameters, a measuring device was developed and constructed which can be used for the direct determination of vertical flux of sensible heat. The fluctuation values of the air temperature and vertical wind component are measured by the sonicanemothermometer which is described. The product of both test values is found by continuous successive multiplication in an analog computing device. This product is proportional to the vertical flux of sensible heat.
