Construction and test of an engineering model on board computer. Volume 1: Summary
Abstract
The construction and test of a modularized space borne computer engineering model is described. The computer is a mechanically and electrically representative prototype of a family of space borne computers to be developed. High reliability, low weight, low power consumption, and small volume were guiding design criteria. A great variety of computer configurations can be obtained, satisfying a wide range of requirements on reliability and processing capability. Modular redundant, as well as multiprocessing systems can be assembled. Furthermore, a computerized test equipment was built. It can be used to test the computer and the individual modules controlling the computer. It can also be used for software development and debugging purposes. An Assembler to be run on a greater host computer is also supplied.
