On the role of the fountain effect in the equatorial ionosphere in the prolonged conservation of radioactive products of the explosion sea star at F-region
Abstract
The effect of prolonged holding of radioactive products (fission fragments) detected by the Cosmos-3, Cosmos-5 and Cosmos-6 after the Sea Star thermonuclear explosion at F -region altitudes of the low and middle latitude ionosphere was analyzed from the viewpoint of ion transport process representations in the near-equatorial ionosphere. A qualitative explanation of this phenomenon on the basis of the fountain effect in the equatorial ionosphere is proposed which satisfactorily agrees with experiment.
