A ranking procedure for nonparametric detection of M-ary signals
Abstract
The proposed nonparametric detectors for M-ary signals are discussed and an evaluation of their performance is conducted, taking into account the detection of constant signals in the presence of purely additive noise, the detection of constant signals in the presence of multiplicative and additive noises, first stage detection in the presence of purely additive noise, the first decision stage in the presence of multiplicative and additive noise, and the effects of sample dependence on the performance of the proposed detector. It is found that the proposed selection process is more effective than the comparable conventional methods in the presence of multiplicative with additive noise, and also in the presence of contaminated Gaussian noise.
