Tchebycheff type bounds on the probability of error for a digital transmission system
Abstract
Upper and lower bounds for the probability of error for a digital transmission system link are derived, based on some recently reported results. The first and second moments of the intersymbol interference, required by the bounds, are given for a bipolar with six zero substitution (B6ZS) code. Also, a second lower bound is derived which, for large signal-to-noise ratios, is larger than the lower bound based on moments. An example applying these bounds to the T2 Digital Line is presented.
