Communication applications of CCD transversal filters

The CCD transversal filter is an important component primarily because the weighting and summing circuitry is quite simple. The design, operation, and performance limitations of CCD transversal filters are described. Communication-related applications of CCD transversal filters are outlined relative to matched filtering, chirp z-transform, video bandwidth reduction, speech processing, and adaptive filtering. Because of its extreme simplicity, the CCD transversal filter is expected to be one of the key building blocks for CCD analog signal processing in the future.
