A new 'phased-type' image enhanced mixer
Abstract
An improved integrated circuit balanced mixer is described which makes use of GaAs Schottky barrier diodes with a zero bias cutoff frequency of 800 GHz. The device has such a design that maximum image current is obtained without the use of an image filter. Image enhancement theory and mixer configuration are discussed. For a local-oscillator tunable bandwidth of over 0.65 GHz, the conversion loss is below 3.0 dB.
