Reverse flow bubbles in flows with angular momentum
Abstract
The phenomenon of vortex breakdown in the case of flows with angular momentum is considered along with experimental results reported by Vogel (1968) who studied the laminar flow in a cylindrical casing with a rotating disk. The conditions for the occurrence of reverse flow bubbles are discussed, taking into account the evolution of the reverse flow bubbles between the limiting Reynolds numbers. Attention is given to an asymptotic expression for the entire pressure and concepts concerning the occurrence of vortex breakdown as a consequence of instability conditions.
