Model kinetic equations for structureless polyatomic molecules with phenomenological energy exchange
Abstract
Models of the Boltzmann collision integral are developed for polyatomic structureless spherical molecules subject to certain classes of phenomenological energy exchange between participating energy modes in binary collisions. For the models considered the existence of a class of "pseudo inverse" collisions leads to a detailed balancing principle and to an Htheorem. Recently proposed special models of the exchange process are discussed in the light of the present formalism and extensions of these are developed. Methods for determining disposable parameters in such models are also briefly discussed.
