Pressure wave propagation through a separated gas-liquid layer in a duct
Abstract
Weak pressure-wave propagating through a separated gas-liquid layer at rest in a duct of constant rectangular cross-section and infinite length is discussed. The proper geometrical dispersion of such a system is disclosed. The development of a disturbance initially having a step profile is followed on the basis of the linearized theory and the weak nonlinear asymptotic theory.
