The Symphonie satellite system
Abstract
The two models of the Symphonie experimental communications satellite program described were launched into geostationary orbits in December 1974 and August 1975, respectively. The three-axis stabilized satellites operate in the 4 to 6 GHz band, with four 90-GHz subbands available for checking and experimentation. The configuration and principal characteristics of the spacecraft are described, along with some new technologies developed for the equipments and subsystems. Particular attention is given to the biliquid apogee motor and the biliquid hot gas system of orbit corrections.
