The generalized Langevin equation, autocorrelations, and plasma resistivity
Abstract
Langevin's equation is generalized and treated as a phenomenologically stochastic equation to describe Brownian movements. The differences between the usual and the generalized equations and the motivation for using the latter to describe phenomena in plasma are reviewed. The correctness of fluctuationaldissipational theorems obtained for plasma is investigated utilizing known values of autocorrelation of the electric field and determining therefrom the resistivity of the plasma.
