Geometrical resolution and modulation transfer of photosensors
Abstract
The modulation transfer functions of discrete photosensors were determined for static and dynamic scanning on a purely geometrical basis. The principal result obtained is that the sensor frequency must be at least three times the tracking and imaging frequency of the object in order to obtain satisfactory resolution of the tracking frequency. The potential of high-resolution automatically scanning semiconductor photosensors in the design of aerial and satellite electronic imaging systems is demonstrated.
