Digital signal processing for radar
Abstract
A description is presented of two types of radar signal processors. One, a range-gated Doppler filter processor of medium speed, is used to detect and track a radar target by discriminating the velocity of the target against a background of clutter and noise. The second processor is a flexible matched filter that provides pulse compression on waveforms used in early warning and intelligence gathering radar such as Cobra Dane. The primary elements in both processors perform a fast Fourier transform. Attention is given to federated signal processing networks, processing elements, the microcontroller, high-speed signal processing, and aspects of digital pulse compression.
