A digital FDMA system integrated with the earth network - Full scale tests on Symphonie
Abstract
The paper presents results of full scale tests performed on a mixed (single channel-multichannel) digital FDMA system integrated with the ground network of the Symphonie satellite communications system. The major component of this system is the SERVOMIC which performs the functions of separating and regrouping the MIC channel. The SERVOMIC has a variable structure and can separate and regroup 30 channels into 30 x 1 channels or 6 x 1 channels plus 24 channels or 6 x 1 channels plus 2 x 12 channels. This device permits the phase correction of digital signal packets - Doppler-shift-distorted - received at different ground stations. The experimental results confirm the transmission capacities predicted for a Symphonie repeater (240 single channels and 10 x 24 multichannels).
