Prospects for ion temperature measurements in JET by Thomson scattering of submillimetre waves
Abstract
The use of Thomson scattering for measurements on the JET Tokamak is discussed. The principal concern is the practical limitations imposed by the availability of high power pulsed sources and sensitive detectors, and noise due to plasma emission at submillimeter wavelengths. Coherent scattering from plasma waves (ion acoustic waves and electron drift waves) with millimeter and submillimeter waves is considered.
