Critical scattering of laser light by thin fluid films
Abstract
The close-spaced Fabry-Perot interferometer was used to study the anomalous index of refraction of a critical binary mixture, and a theory was developed that enables the critical indices to be extracted from the experimental results. Efforts to suspend Brownian particles in a single component critical fluid (methyl fluoride) were proved successful, and initial light scattering studies of particle diffusion in a compressible critical fluid are planned.
