Filter design and unfolding techniques for low-energy X-ray spectrometry
Abstract
A matrix of filters for use in a passive low-energy spectrometer was designed with the aid of a computer program. The X-ray detecting element of the spectrometer was left unspecified and treated as black box. Another computer code based on matrix inversion was written to unfold energy spectra. This report discusses both codes in detail and presents an example using simulated measurements. Error analysis confirmed the utility of the approach for low-resolution spectrometry.
