Analysis of targets with nonuniform composition as a function of depth: Elastic and inelastic scattering
Abstract
An analytical technique to reduce yield versus energy spectra to impurity concentration versus depth is described. It applies to both elastic and inelastic reactions and calculates the depth distribution profile directly from the observed data. It uses the experimental spectrum to be analyzed, stopping cross sections and reaction cross sections to obtain the desired depth scales and the depth dependence of the target composition. A computer code, NUCREA, has been developed to perform such analysis. A description of NUCREA, a user's guide, a complete listing and a typical output for the code are contained in the report. An example showing the analysis of experimental data is also presented.
