Heat transfer in semitransparent solids
Abstract
Energy transfer processes and basic equations of energy transfer are considered. Attention is given to the energy equation, radiation transfer equations, a formal solution of the equation of transfer, radiative flux and its approximations, and radiative flux for some special situations. Physical properties are discussed along with the radiation characteristics of semitransparent solids, transient heat transfer in cold semitransparent solids, combined conduction and radiation heat transfer, the solidification and melting of semitransparent materials, and the measurement of temperature in the presence of radiative transfer.
