Some applications of the method of adjoints in the solution of boundary layer problems
Abstract
A description of the method of adjoints is given, taking into account nonlinear and linear equations. Applications in the case of nonlinear equations are illustrated with the aid of a problem involving a flat plate. In another example a circular cone flying at supersonic speed and having a small angle of attack is considered. Approaches for obtaining the missing initial conditions of a problem by means of the method of adjoints are discussed.
