Analysis of the self-pulsing operation of a plasma gun by circuit theory
Abstract
Quantitative analysis of the motion of plasmoids produced during fractional plasma acceleration is carried out with the aid of equations obtained by the contour superposition method. With allowance for parameter values established by virtue of the self-regulating properties of the internal processes of the discharge, the solution of the equations satisfactorily describes plasmoid motion observed in a coaxial accelerator in quasi-steady regime. It is shown that the acceleration regime approaches the optimal as the supply of working substance is better matched to the self-organization of the discharge.
