Instability of orbital motion in a layer of electrons rotating in a uniform magnetic field. I
Abstract
The paper analyzes the instability of a rarefied plane layer of electrons with respect to perturbations of the space charge field. It is shown that instability takes place only in relation to perturbations at high (beginning with the third) harmonics of the cyclotron frequency, the magnitude of the increments increasing very slowly with harmonic number.
