Mechanism of excitation of combination frequencies in ionospheric plasma
Abstract
A quantitative version of a previously proposed mechanism explaining the results of experiments on the nonlinear detection of modulated short-wave signals in the ionosphere is presented. The present work corroborates the conclusion that the effect of nonlinear detection in the ionosphere is due to modulation of the ionosphere currents (caused by the nonlinearity of the ionosphere) at altitudes of 80-90 km.-
