Electromagnetic waves in absorbing anisotropic and hypotropic media consisting of flat layers
Abstract
A problem concerning the reflection and transmission of plane electromagnetic waves incident to the normal of an arbitrary system of linear anisotropic and hypotropic layers is solved on the basis of the Maxwell equations, electrodynamic boundary conditions, and the general principle of field superposition. Phase as well as impedance tensors and matrices characterizing a wave in the layers and at layer boundaries are found using a direct tensor method in terms of given thicknesses and the complex asymmetric tensors of the layers' dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability.
