Shortwave asymptotic behavior of the scatter diagram and the total scattering cross section of a smooth convex cylinder
Abstract
The asymptotic behavior of the directional diagram of scattered radiation is calculated with respect to the asymptotic behavior of currents at the surface of a smooth convex cylinder. The directional diagram is represented as the sum of a Kirchhoff approximation and a correction expressed in terms of a Fock function and a Fresnel integral. The asymptotic behavior of the total scattering cross section of a convex cylinder is treated as a special case.
