Echo in a semiconfined plasma
Abstract
It has been shown by Gould et al. (1967) that if a longitudinal wave is excited in a collisionless plasma and Landau-damps away, and a second wave is excited and also damps away, then a third wave (i.e., the echo) will spontaneously appear in the plasma. An analysis of this plasma wave echo phenomenon leads to an expression for calculating the wave echo field in a semiconfined electron plasma.
