On the Jeans gravitational instability in the presence of thermal radiation
Abstract
In this paper we discuss the Jeans gravitational instability of a compressible fluid, taking account of the thermal radiation within the differential approximation for a gas of arbitrary opacity. The equation of state is taken in general form and the effects of viscosity, thermal conductivity and magnetic field are also studied. The critical value of the wavelength is determined for the various cases examined.
