Hard X-ray bursts at 40-290 keV
Abstract
Preliminary results are reported for analysis of hard X-ray flares detected by a scintillation spectrometer on board Cosmos 428. It is shown that the number of flares with shorter duration was greater than that with longer duration and that the shorter flares had correspondingly lesser energy fluxes. The integral distribution of the number of flares is plotted as a function of energy flux and galactic latitude. It is found that the results do not contradict the law of homogeneous source-density distribution in space, but that a distribution along the galactic disk cannot be excluded at this time.
