On methods of computing the shape of thin axisymmetric caverns
Abstract
Axisymmetric cavitation flows are analyzed using a linearized formulation. A passage to the limit in the equations of a boundary value problem is utilized for which the surface of a cavitator and a cavern is considered to be the surface of a thin body. The shape of thin caverns in an unbounded steady stream is given particular attention. The investigation is aimed at obtaining limit dependences convenient for computations and to make them as graphic as possible by using simple models. Attention is also paid to finding more exact asymptotic solutions.
