Pitch period synchronous fast Fourier transformation of speech signals
Abstract
Four methods of adapting FFT frame lengths for segmentation synchronous to the speech pitch period were investigated to determine their effect on the determination of human voice pole frequencies from the maxima of the transient spectrum amplitudes. These are: adaptive sampling at sampling frequency adapted to pitch period duration, reduction of the pitch period synchronous segment, extension of the pitch period synchronous signal extract by adding zeroes, and extension of the pitch period synchronous segments by overlapping. The first two methods were found to be effective.
