Holographic horizontal display system: Development
Abstract
The program had as its main objectives the refinement and extension of the information recording and display techniques required for the implementation of a dynamically annotatable, Holographic Horizontal Situation Display, HHSD. The HHSD system design has assumed as its performance goals, the requirements of the Horizontal Situation Display of the AIMIS cockpit concept. As such, the HHSD system is a system designed to present multicolor aerial chart information as well as overlayed dynamically generated alpha-numeric and graphical data for viewing in a cockpit environment. The system also allows the viewing of sensor data (FLIR, LLLTV, RADAR) through the same aperture as is used to view the aerial chart information. Provision is also provided for annotating the chart information prior (preflight) to insertion of the storage tape strip in the display. This annotation appears as a black line annotation on the viewing screen.
