The estimation of the direction of radar targets
Abstract
With a planair phased array antenna, azimuth and elevation of reflecting targets can be estimated in many different ways. What the fundamental relation is between the obtainable estimation accuracy of the target angles on one hand and the target echo signal-to-interference ratio and the system parameters on the other is described for a linear array and for different monopulse systems. Clutter and thermal noise were used as interference models.
