Lectures on turbulence theory
Abstract
An introduction to probability theory (including Gaussian random variables and probability spaces) is followed by discussions of such topics as random fields, homogeneous flow, energy and dissipation spectra of fluid flow, universal equilibrium theory, closure approximations, random measures and integrals, integral representation of random flow, and applications of the representation theorem. One and threedimensional flows are studied, and an attempt to construct a dynamical theory is made.
