The magnetic susceptibility of Americium and curium metal
Abstract
The magnetic susceptibility of americium metal is almost temperature independent between room and liquid helium temperatures. Curium metal shows Curie-Weiss paramagnetism with antiferromagnetic ordering around 52 K; its effective magnetic moment supports the hypothesis of localized 5∫ electrons and a metal valence of three.
