Determination of appropriate complexity of integrated-circuit digital matched filters
Abstract
Digital matched filters with multiple sampling levels constituting a logical extension of LSI digital matched filters are considered for discriminating between two orthogonal phase-keyed signals. A two-channel filter configuration with each channel consisting of two quadrature branches, an upper cosine branch and a lower sine branch, and containing a large number of LSI identical registers, is considered. An additive mixture of signal and noise is separated in multiplier circuits into quadrature low-frequency components which are then sampled. The effect of the most dangerous harmonic noise on digital matched filters is investigated.
