Modeling the interaction between a plane electron beam and a traveling wave in crossed fields
Abstract
Mathematical modeling was used to analyze the interaction between a plane electron beam and a traveling wave in crossed fields. The optimal dimensions of the grid used in solving the Poisson equation, the modeling time increment, and the charge of a 'large' electron are selected. Curves are plotted showing the results of modeling the processes in an Mtype TWT operating in the 10cm range. The calculations show that varying the thickness of the injected beam from 0 to 0.35 for a given mean y coordinate has little effect on the amplification process. However, the spacecharge field has a significant effect on the gain.
