Modeling the interaction between a plane electron beam and a traveling wave in crossed fields
Abstract
Mathematical modeling was used to analyze the interaction between a plane electron beam and a traveling wave in crossed fields. The optimal dimensions of the grid used in solving the Poisson equation, the modeling time increment, and the charge of a 'large' electron are selected. Curves are plotted showing the results of modeling the processes in an M-type TWT operating in the 10-cm range. The calculations show that varying the thickness of the injected beam from 0 to 0.35 for a given mean y coordinate has little effect on the amplification process. However, the space-charge field has a significant effect on the gain.
