Das Induktionsspulen-Magnetometer-Experiment (E4).
Abstract
The Induction Coil Magnetometer experiment has been designed to investigate the magnetic component of electromagnetic waves in the solar wind from 0.3 to 1.0 AU. By means of its waveform channel (WFC) the rapid variations of the magnetic field are measured up to plus or minus 8.75 nT or 275 nT in three orthogonal directions from 4 to 128 Hz. The spectrum analyser (SPA) observes the field components in the ecliptic plane and perpendicular to it, i.e. the power spectral density and peak values for 8 logarithmically spaced channels in the range from 4.7 to 2,200 Hz. Because of the large amount of data produced by this experiment an adaptive data reduction is applied. For interesting time intervals selected by experiment 2 or 5A waveform data can be read into an onboard memory at a rapid rate to be transmitted slowly afterwards.
