Nonstationary deformation of a fluid-filled shell subjected to weak shock waves
Abstract
A method is proposed for an exact solution of the problem concerning the nonstationary deformation of cylindrical and spherical shells immersed in an acoustic medium and filled with a material having identical or different acoustical properties. In this method, each mode of shell vibrations is represented by an integral Volterra equation to be solved numerically. The method allows solution for sufficiently large interaction times. A numerical example is presented as to the effect of a plane stepwise wave on a cylindrical shell filled with an incompressible fluid. Diagrams indicating the time variation of deflection at characteristic points of the shell contour are obtained. The progressive displacement of the shell is evaluated.
